ADVISORY: VISA RESTRICTIONS RELATED TO COVID-19 Suspension of Visa Services : In response to the global surge in COVID-19 cases, the Malawi Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services has temporarily suspended issuance of visas to all foreign nationals. All visas that have been issued are as well suspended except visa categories of Diplomatic, Official and Essential Services. The Department will communicate in due course on any developments related to the lift of this suspension.
The Malawi Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services reserves the right not to give reasons for rejection of any visa application.
E-Visa approval letters can be accessed through applicant’s e-visa account. Additionally, an access link is also provided through an instant email notification sent to the applicant’s email address.
E-Visa applicants can check the status of their applications on the e-Visa web portal.

E-Visa applications are processed within three (3) working days.
E-Visa applicants must upload scanned documents and not camera captured photos.
Validity of the e-visa starts from the date of issue.

E-Visa shall bear particulars of the passport used on application and travelers must use this passport to enter Malawi.

Malawi eVisas must be paid online using Credit or Debt cards.
Malawi eVisa applications must be paid in United States Dollars.
